Kate

Everyone, please meet the new addition to out family, Kate. She is a 10 week old Vizsla that we picked up this past Monday from Double J Dogs in Inola, Ok. This is a pretty cool breed that is also know as the Hungarian Pointer but we would agree with the alias, "Velcro Dog". She pretty much wants to be where we are at all times. Kate is a sweet girl that has a lot to learn but she is picking things up quickly. It has been a busy week and this was our first opportunity to get her in the studio for a quick photo session. Vicki came up with several poses that Kate was pretty much willing to participate in. Also, Kate is enjoying her visit with Lauren's room mate, Marilyn. Kate may end up being one of the most photographed Vizslas in history. Check back for updates.

West Point Graduation

Our nephew, Derek, recently graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. It was a pure pleasure to visit new territory - New York's Hudson River Valley region and join in the festivities. Friday was the parade of cadets. The various companies each entered from different buildings surrounding the field. The precision was amazing and an incredible sight. On graduation day, we listened to President Obama give the keynote address, cheered (and of course took pictures) as Derek was handed his diploma and watched the hats fly. Following the commencement, we moved to a location overlooking the campus for Derek's pinning of rank. Alan Ludwick, our brother-in-law, was the first to salute Derek. Not a dry eye in the place. It was a once in a life time experience. We are incredibly proud of Derek. We had to add one picture of Jonas. He graduated last in the class to the cheers of his classmates! Last is really not a bad thing. Each cadet donated to a pot of money, the alumni association matched the cadets donation and... Jonas walked away with several thousand dollars and what is he? A second lieutenant with a degree from West Point!

Schandra, Matt..... and Bevo

It was a pleasure meeting Schandra and Matt at a ranch in the hill country. Thanks to John T. Baker and his lovely wife for hosting us on a spectacular afternoon at their gorgeous ranch. There was endless opportunities for beautiful backgrounds. Matt is not a real fan of having his photo taken, but he was a good sport. He had a pretty loud UT sombrero that gets dusted off for tailgating at football games that got him to smile. Schandra is such a cutie! Schandra is a Dell employee and both Schandra and Matt were born and raised in Austin. I probably don't need tell you how tiny Schandra is but it is really obvious when you see her standing next to Bevo.
Bevo is one of the most recognized college mascots and boy is he impressive. Tough looking but in the hands of John T, Bevo is a gentle giant.. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for us. We simply had a blast with this photo shoot. Great couple, lots of fun and... we got to include Bevo. Super cool!

Lauren and Russell - Engagement Session - Austin

Lauren decided that she wanted their engagement session to reflect her style, things she loves and always remember about Austin and the traveling they have had to do each month to see each other. Lauren will soon be moving to Russell's home in Santa Rosa, CA. Russell was a trooper and said he was up for anything. First stop, Shoreline Grill where Lauren and Russell will marry on March 26, 2011. Lauren wanted a vintage feel and her dad (Mark from J. Mark Photography - smile!) wanted a few traditional poses. We combined the two using the old wooden dock on the hike and bike trail along Lady Bird Lake to the greenery, trees and stairs leading up to the Shoreline Grill. Classic to vintage at one location.

Then we started a short walkabout in the downtown area.
Next stop...SoCo and hey cupcake. What a fun area - you could go crazy with all the color and photo opportunities along South Congress.
We finished up at ABIA where this couple seems to spend way too much time!
We had a wonderful time taking these images ... and oh by the way, we couldn't have picked a better man for our daughter. We look forward to having Russell as our son-in-law. Lauren says meeting Russell was fate, becoming friends was a choice, but falling in love she had no control over!
