Erica and Greg - The Roosevelt Room, Waco Texas

According to a service we subscribe to called "The Wedding Report", 1 in every 6 couples meet on-line. They say eHarmony specializes in the science of love and it sure worked well with Erica and Greg. What a great couple. We photographed Erica's sister's wedding a year ago and it was the ultimate compliment to be asked back! A sweet ceremony was held at a church and then on to the historic Roosevelt Room. This building was first built in 1872 as the McClelland Hotel, then later one of the first Hilton Hotels in Texas and is now a beautiful event room with office complex. Guests enjoyed an absolutely delicious dinner followed by heart felt toasts by Erica's sister, Lindsey and her father. The DJ, a family friend, added his own personal flair to the reception and played an eclectic mix that had the dance floor busy. Yummy cake and cobbler for the groom's dessert and a busy live photo booth rounded out a perfect evening. The indoor bubble exit on the stairs was really lovely! The couple is honeymooning in Aruba! Chicago Style R&R

Mark and I blocked off a long weekend to travel with some good friends to Chicago. We had never visited the windy city and decided it was time to explore the nations 3rd largest city with a population of 2.7 million. Our first observation was that it is a fairly clean city with super friendly people. We started our trip Day 1 wondering around Millennium Park and checking out "Cloud Gate" more commonly known as the "Bean". An awesome piece of sculpture. We ended the day with a sunset architecture river and Lake Michigan cruise. Beautiful view!

 

 

 

 

 

Day 2- Cub's Game and Wrigley Field - What a prefect day for baseball! Wrigley Field, which was built in 1914 and is such a cool stadium! It is the second-oldest ballpark in the majors behind Boston's Fenway Park. The singing of "Take me out to the Ball Game" for the 7th inning stretch gave us goose bumps. We ended the day with a free concert by the Chicago Symphony in Millennium Park.

 

 

 

 

Day 3 - Ughhh... super crowded Shed Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium. However, the city view from the Planetarium was wonderful (a place we decided to come back to for night photography of the city) and that evening we went hear the Doobie Brothers and Chicago in concert. Super fun!

 

 

 

 

Day 4 - Tall Buildings - We decided to experience all views of the Sears (now called the Willis) Tower and the Hancock Building. Plus, we hit the river for some nighttime shots. Then Mark got up before sunrise to shoot the bean without any people around.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Day 5 - Breakfast at the landmark "Lou Mitchells" restaurant. If you have to wait in line, they feed you donut holes, coffee and milk duds while you wait. Luckily, we did not have to wait but still got to enjoy the donut holes before catching the "EL" back to the airport. I wish we had such a great transit system in Austin!
