Sedona and Grand Canyon

Vicki and I had a great trip to Sedona, AZ and the Grand Canyon this past April. Hard to believe it has been a year already. Must be time for another trip. If anyone out there has any ideas on the subject I would like to hear them. Here are a couple of my favorite shots from both locations.

We saw the sun come up a few times at the canyon so we could get the sunrise shots. Very worth it but I think the sunsets were better. Better color, warmer, easier to find your spot. The panorama is really 6 separate shots stitched together with photoshop.

The Sedona shots were also best with sunset lighting. The late afternoon light reflecting off the rocks really makes them red up. In the top shot there was a field that just happened to be flooded that day. Reflection really helps to make that shot worth while.

Lori and Mike

We had a great time with Lori and Mike and their families this past Friday evening. Everything went very smoothly. Weather was outstanding. They picked one of our favorite venues, Kindred Oaks. We will actaully be out there on the 13th for an open house.

Olivia

We enjoyed our session with four week old Olivia. Such a lovely bundle of joy. Vicki and I met Olivia's mom, Heather, at one of our favorite wedding venues...Kindred Oaks. We have the honor of being on the Kindred Oaks preferred vendor list and always enjoy our wedding photography at this local spot. We watched Heather bloom with Olivia and it was nice to finally meet her. Here are a couple of our personal favorites from the session. Baby Olivia was peaceful on the towels and snuggled into the blankets. We look forward to watching Olivia grow. We love family photography. It is so much fun meeting and interaction with the families, keeping touch over time, and watching the kids grow. Here are just a few examples there are many more on our web site - www.jmarkphotography.com - Whether in our home studio or out on location it is all about getting the best result possible while having fun. We have been doing weddings long enough that we are starting to get some of our couples back for maternity then infant and finally family portraits. So cool!!

Bridal Portrait Shoot

This is a couple of samples from the photo shoot last Friday. We went to Mayfield Park just off MoPac here in Austin. Pretty little area that is one of the few that still do not charge for photography sessions. The notice to photographers said they may have to start charging in the future. We'll see. It was a good afternoon. A bright warm day. There was some wind but the park is fairly sheltered so it didn't bother us much. One interesting thing about this park are the peacocks that live there. Just a little something that adds to the experience. There were about 5 photographers there all trying to use the space at the same time and stay out of each others way. As one of the last free spaces I can see it getting very busy. I suppose that is why they will probably start charging for the right to shoot there.

J Mark Photography

Mark and Vicki started J Mark Photography in January of 2005. They are turning their love of photography into a business focused on weddings, and portraits. Mark has been involved with photography for the past 30+ years and finally moved to the professional ranks with a trasnstion from high tech. Mark is very experienced with wedding photography, both photo journalistic and traditional styles. He enjoys portrait as well as landscape photography and has experience with black and white as well as color.

Here are a couple of samples to get started but I think this will be a good place to update everyone on photo gigs going forward.
Wish me luck! Mark
